VO Beauty prioritizes sustainability by sourcing eco-friendly materials for our products, such as amber glass bottles and jars that protect product potency and shelf life, while also reducing waste in landfills. We also use directly printed containers instead of stickers to prevent waste. Our new product boxes are made from 100% recyclable wood pulp, making them easily recyclable after use.
At VO Beauty, we take great pride in our commitment to minimizing waste in our production process. We firmly believe in using efficient manufacturing methods and avoiding overproduction, which sets us apart from larger companies that often generate excessive waste due to their high-volume production practices.
Instead, we make our products in-house in small batches to prevent overproduction and ensure freshness and high quality. This helps minimize our impact on the environment.

When it came to formulating our Manuka Glow mask, we worked on countless revisions and asked for feedback from our skincare community (we don’t do product testing on fluffy friends). After months of testing, we came across one feedback that changed the formulation of Manuka Glow to what it is now. Prior to the changes, Manuka Glow had everything except one factor: exfoliation. The feedback was from my good friend Mikala (@skincareaholic_), whom is also well-respected within the skincare community on Instagram. Mikala mentioned although she loves the Manuka Glow, she wanted a mask that can also exfoliate. LIGHT BULB MOMENT- we value our customers and skincare community’s suggestions so we dived right into finding the missing ingredient for Manuka Glow.
At the time, jojoba beads and grounded apricot seeds were popular but it can be abrasive for sensitive skin. We love using old traditions and making it modern. It was the perfect choice for us to use Japanese beans. Japanese beans, a traditional remedy used by Japanese women for centuries to rejuvenate and brighten their complexion.
We wanted everyone, including Mikala to love it. We grounded Japanese beans by hand so it was gentle enough as a mask. To create the exfoliating factor, we used science to ensure the tiny bean granules only expanded in contact with water to gently remove dead and dull skin.
Other reasons we chose Japanese beans:
Manuka Glow mask is our best selling mask after one and a half years and remains as one of Mikala’s favorite masks =)
” This is my favourite mask ever for hydration and I love how gentle the beans are on my sensitive skin.I LOVE ITTTT.” - Mikala (@skincareaholic_ )

For those who have used and loved using jojoba oil, meadowfoam seed oil will be the next ingredient you’ll want to try out.
The main difference is that Jojoba Oil contains the C18 fatty acid (Oleic Acid) whereas Meadowfoam Seed Oil contains the C22 fatty acid (Docosadienoic Acid). This means that both oils have a similar smooth application on the skin, with theMeadowfoam Seed Oil offering a slightly richer feel. That doesn’t mean that the richer texture will leaving your skin feeling greasy nor will it clog the pores. The fatty acids found in Meadowfoam seed oil will nourish, hydrate and keeps breakouts at bay.
Meadowfoam seed oil made from a flower native to Northern California and Oregon, meadowfoam seed oil is lightweight, non-comedogenic, and sinks right into the skin. It’s great at locking in moisture, leaving skin supple, glowy, and hydrated.
Here are some benefits of meadowfoam seed oil
1, When applied to the skin, it will form a moisture barrier to help prevent moisture loss.
You can find Meadowfoam seed oil in our True Beauty oil.
Apply as a nightly treatment or add a drop into your foundation/concealer for a dewy look.

Oil cleansing has been huge in the beauty community and it has changed the way we look at cleansing. However, there are still many of us who are still afraid of oil cleansing. Many are concerned that it will cause breakouts, that it will make their skin feel greasy and clog pores, but thankfully most of these worries aren't true. So let's look at the myths by breaking down the science why oil cleansing is actually good for you.
Healthy, clear, glowing skin, free of blemishes and flakes seems to be an elusive goal. The booming skin care industry would have us believe the need to rid our skin of oil entirely and replace it with unnatural oil-free substitutions in order to avoid blemishes. With more natural skincare products rising on the market, it is actually a fact that formulas created with oils are better than water-based products such as your creams and lotions. Lotions and creams are usually made with emulsifiers and mainly contains water- these ingredients cannot dissolve dirt or attract bacteria deep within the pores.
Cleansing oil is a way of deep cleansing your skin without stripping it of all of its essential moisture that it needs. Oil cleansing sounds scary, but "like attracts like," so oil is actually perfect for removing dirt, grime, pollution, makeup, and sunscreen. It binds to all of these clogging substances and more, so it's easy to remove.
The great thing about oil cleansing is that anyone can do it - all skin type and it's so simple.
Here are common myth busted.
MYTH ONE: OIL WILL MAKE MY FACE OILY
As an Estheician, I hear this comment all the time " My skin will get oily with oils"and here's why this myth is a bust.
Oil and water do not mix, which suggests that water-based products might not be the right tools for removing oil from your face. Water-based products such as your cleansers and soaps cannot dissolve the dirt and attract bacteria deep from within your pores. The other downside is that it will strip your natural oils. The squeaky clean feeling is actually a bad feeling and that is why your skin feels so tight and dry after you rinse. You should try to avoid "loving" this feeling because through time, your skin is becoming more dry, more dehydrated which will lead to wrinkles and fine lines.
Oil cleansing will help dissolve impurities, remove them, and keep the outer most barrier intact and functioning properly. Oil cleansing method will dissolve blackheads, extract whiteheads, and balance dry, oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin while nourishing and moisturizing it.
So no matter what skin type you have, the oil cleansing method allows your skin to balance itself, bringing it back to its natural state without the squeaky clean feeling. You will notice a natural glow and softer skin after you rinse or use a wash cloth.
MYTH TWO: CLEANSING OIL TAKES TOO LONG
This type of cleansing is definitely worth your time! Oil cleansing doesn't have to take long and it deep cleanses without stripping your skin. Plus, it effectively removes all makeup without harsh chemicals — even tough-to-remove eye makeup. The massage action of applying the oil softens hardened plugs of sebum lodged in pores to make them easier to remove and helps with congested pores to keep skin clear. Massage also increases circulation and lymph flow so that skin is plump and looks healthy and radiant. Massage for a few minutes and your skin will thank you.
It is true that natural oils will not remove easily from your skin so using a warm cloth is a tip. When you wipe the oils using a warm cloth, it acts as a buffer to remove all the dead skin from your skin. I personally love using a cleansing oil with a warm cloth to remove all the dead skin from my nose and forehead.
Comment below if you have tried cleansing oil and I'd love to know your experiences.

Let the count down to 2019 begin! We're in the office for a few hours today trying to set up our vision board (which we will blog about in January) and of course finishing the year with a glass - actually a few glasses of Prosecco.
On June 2018, after many years of formulating and planning, my dream came true, Vo Beauty. . In what seemed like 10 long years in the skincare industry, the biggest challenges were turning my passion into a business and taking leaps into the unknown. Thankfully, through the encouragement of my family, friends and Instagram community (some of which are also my product testers), Vo Beauty is growing in leaps and bounds I never thought would be possible!
Here are a few milestones VoBeauty has achieved:
What a dream come true! We've always wanted to be in a big-boxed retail store and it came true for us in August. Toronto was the first location we got in and since then we're now in Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary.
This was such a huge success and we couldn't be more thankful for our participants who traveled near and far to come for 2.5 hours on a Sunday for the workshop. The day was filled with so many educational topics such how to physically analyze their skin, the type of clays to use for their skin, and lastly which solutions or added boosters can be used to make the perfect mask. Overall, it was so fun and Keren Chen (@kombuchamaimi) provided us the most delicious and healthy Lavender white tea kombucha for the day.
We were featured in an article written by Beauty Independent, a digital publication that supports Natural wellness and beauty entrepreneurs discussing about their journey, process and innovative ideas. They have covered stories from some of our inspirational companies such as Indie Lee, Indie Expo, and Schmidt's Naturals so it was very exciting for us to have our first published article.

We are so excited to offer Vo Beauty into new markets and I have nothing but gratitude for all the hard work and dedication my team as done! Stay tuned for more shows in Toronto, New York and United Kingdom. . . This is just the beginning. Thank you for all your support. Only because of you, all this is possible.
Happy New Year everyone!!
